Biography
AS A SOPHOMORE (2020-21):
2020-21 season was cut short due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Started in six of eight games for UMBC.
Averaged 4.8 points and 1.5 rebounds on the season.
Shot 27.8 percent (15-54) from the field, 26.7 (4-15) from the three, and 80 (4-5) from the free throw line.
Averaged 1.8 assists, including a season-high four in the season opener against Morgan State (Nov. 25).
Netted a season-high 11 points against Mount St. Mary’s (5-12 FG) and UAlbany (4-10 FG, 2-3 3FG).
AS A FRESHMAN (2019-20):
- Started in all 28 games as a freshman.
- Was third on the team, averaging 8.4 points per game.
- Finished the year shooting 39.1 percent from the field and 52.4 percent from the free throw line.
- Second on the team with 34 steals and third with 38 assists.
- Set a career-high with 17 points against Stony Brook, going 8-15 from the floor and 2-3 from three-point range.
- Two-time America East Rookie of the Week (11/25, 1/27).
BACKGROUND:
- Named Howard County Player of the Year as a junior and senior.
- Led Howard County in scoring for two seasons.
- Holds the Long Reach record for points scored in a career (male or female) with 1,571.
- Was named to the Maryland All-State and Nation All-USA Today Maryland Team as a junior.
- As a senior was a McDonald's All-American nominee.
- Scored her 1,000th career point in her junior campaign.
- Helped lead Long Reach to the Maryland state finals.
- Washington Post and Baltimore Sun All-Met Team honors.
- Had her Long Reach jersey retired before graduation.
- Also lettered in soccer.
PERSONAL:
- Daughter of former UMBC basketball star Karyn Swann (1988-92), who earned East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors in 1990-91 and ranks 13th all-time in career steals.
- Has a twin sister, Jaelyn, who also plays at UMBC.
- Chose UMBC over Yale.
- Majoring in visual arts.
