Biography
AS A SOPHOMORE (2008-09): Saw action in 19 games and started the last three contests of the season… Grabbed a career-high seven rebounds and added personal bests with two blocks and two steals against Stony Brook (Feb. 21)… Scored a career-high eight points on three field goals and a pair of free throws at Albany (Feb. 25)… Made her first career start at Binghamton (Feb. 28)… Played a season-high 22 minutes against Boston University (March 4)… After averaging just 3.1 minutes through her first 13 games of the season, she played in 14.2 mpg over the final six contests… Made eight of her final nine foul shots after missing four of her first five… Named the team’s Most Improved Athlete at UMBC’s annual varsity awards banquet… Also took gold in shot put at the America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships and was named UMBC’s team MVP.
AS A FRESHMAN (2007-08): Saw action in 17 games, playing 7.5 minutes per contest… Made her collegiate debut in the season opener against George Washington (Nov. 9), playing one minute… Played two minutes at Coppin State (Nov. 14) and picked up the first steal of her career… Scored the first points of her career on a field goal and a free throw and also added a steal in six minutes against Mount St. Mary’s (Nov. 24)… Played a career-high 25 minutes at Loyola (Dec. 3) and grabbed a season-best four rebounds… Tied her season high with four boards in 18 minutes at Navy (Dec. 5)… Played 19 minutes against Northern Iowa (Dec. 19), scoring three points, all on free throws, and grabbing three rebounds to go along with her first career block… Saw action in six America East contests.
HIGH SCHOOL: A three-time All-County honoree by the Southern Maryland Recorder, including a First-Team selection as a senior… Named to the Washington Post All-Extra First Team in 2007 and the Second Team in 2006… Named team MVP and Most Outstanding Female Athlete at Patuxent High School as a senior… Was the MVP of the Senior All-Star Game… Posted a double-double against Thomas Stone during her senior year with 26 points and 16 rebounds, and also added four steals in the game… Averaged a double-double as a junior and senior with 15 points and 13 rebounds per game in 2005-06 and 16 ppg and 13 rpg in 2006-07… Led her AAU team, the Baltimore Cougars, to the regional and state championships… Also a four-year track and field standout at Patuxent who was a two-time state shot put champion… Lettered in volleyball for three years, as well.
PERSONAL: The third of five children to Debbie and Johnny Robinson… Has an older brother, John Jr., an older sister, Amanda, and two younger brothers, Lucas and Robert… Amanda played basketball for the Retrievers from 2004-08 and was the 2007 America East Tournament Most Outstanding Player… John Jr. played football for a semi-pro league… Born April 18, 1989… An interdisciplinary studies major with a focus in criminal justice who hopes to become a police officer.
