Accolades

  • Tabbed 2023 America East Striker of the Year, becoming the first Retriever soccer player to repeat as a major award winner since Pete Caringi III achieved the feat in 2012/2013 and only one of four players to bring home back-to-back accolades.  
  • Selected to the America East First Team, becoming the first Retriever since Caringi III (2011-13) to earn three consecutive top honors.
  • Also tabbed to the 2023 America East All-Academic Team  
  • Named 2022 America East Striker of the Year, UMBC’s first major award winner since Malcolm Harris earned Defender of the Year honors in 2015. 
  • The first Retriever Striker of the Year since Kay Banjo received that honor in 2014.
  • Also tabbed to the 2022 America East First Team 
  • Named to 2022 United Soccer Coaches Northeast Conference Second Team 
  • Earned 2021 America East First Team honors

  • Reached the 10-goal plateau in back-to-back seasons and his 32nd career strike vs. UNH moved him into eighth place on the school's all-time list
  • Moved into a tie for eighth place on the Retrievers’ all-time points list with 79
  • Opened the season with a hat trick versus George Mason
  • Posted his sixth career multiple-goal game with a pair versus No. 16 Cornell on Sept. 16
  • Tallied a goal and an assist in UMBC’s historic three-goal rally in a 4-4 draw versus Navy on Oct. 3
2022 
  • Netted a career-best 11 goals and added seven assists in 17 games
  • His 29 points is the fifth-most (tied with Shawn Miller) for a junior in school history
  • Posted a goal and career-best two assists in the opener versus Fairfield
  • Added two goals each in victories over St. Francis Brooklyn, UMass Lowell and NJIT
  • Set a school record by scoring 10 seconds into the contest versus St. Francis Brooklyn
  • UMBC was 7-0-1 when he scored a goal 
  • Tallied the game-tying goal in the 83’ in the Retrievers’ 2-1 win over Vermont on Oct. 22
  • Went the distance (90 or 110 minutes) on nine occasions
2021
  • Ranked second in points, third in shots and second in shots on goal in America East
  • Appeared in all 19 games with 18 starts
  • Recorded team highs with nine goals and 23 points 
  • Tallied five game winning goals, first in the league and 13th (tied) in the nation
  • Named America East player of the Week on 9/20/21 after a two-goal, three-assist week versus Mount St. Mary’s and Hartford
  • Had a first half natural hat-trick against Lehigh (4’, 10’, 26’) on Sept. 21
  • Named 6 in Top Drawer Soccer’s America East Elite post-season rankings  

2020 (spring 2021)

  • Led the Retrievers with 24 shots and 16 on goal
  • Finished second in America East with 2.0 SOG per game and fourth with 3.0 shots per contest
  • In his collegiate debut, scored the game-winning goal in the 106’ in the season opener versus GW (2/23)
  • The aforementioned goal provided Head Coach Pete Caringi, Jr. with his 300th victory at UMBC
  • Earned America East Rookie of the Week honors on 3/1
  • Also hit the nets on a dazzling shot in the 81’ vs. St. Joseph’s (4/3)

BACKGROUND DATA: 

  • Earned All-America, All-State and The Baltimore Sun All-Metro honors in 2019
  • Part of two State Cup and two MIAA B Conference championship squads
  • Led the metro area with 33 goals in 2019, including 11 multiple-goal games
  • Competed in his father’s native Brazil against DI professional teams
  • Father, Adauto Neto, scored over 100 goals in eight seasons with the Baltimore Blast
