Biography

2009: Made his collegiate debut vs. Delaware on Sept. 4, allowing a goal in nearly 15 minutes of relief work… Appeared vs. Albany on Oct. 24 and recorded his first career save, while holding UA off the scoreboard in the final 20 minutes of action. 

 

2008:  Served as Steve King’s back-up in the goal, but did not see any game action.

 

 

Background: Majoring in visual arts/graphic design… Named First-Team All-County for his outstanding efforts for the Raiders in 2007… The team captain also was selected as the squad’s Most Valuable Player… Recorded 10 shutouts in the regular season… Competed on the Casa Mia Bays’ United States Soccer Academy’s national championship team in 2008… Also lettered in swimming… His older brother Daniel, competed in swimming for Penn State University and was an invitee to the U.S. Olympic trials…  Selected UMBC because “[I] really liked the team members and the atmosphere of the school”… A member of the National Honor Society and a four-year honor roll student… Lists favorite professional team as Arsenal and favorite book as “Of Mice and Men”… The youngest of Jeanne and Alex Calderón’s three sons… Miguel Andres Calderón was born on Dec. 11, 1989.
