Biography

Accolades: (2012) America East Conference coaches named him to the league’s Second Team… Also selected to the 2012 All-Tournament Team. (2013) Named NSCAA Continental Tire NCAA Division I All-America Third Team… An NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team honoree… Tabbed America East Midfielder of the Year and to the AE First Team… Also earned All-Championship team honors… Selected as team Most Valuable Athlete.  

 

Post-UMBC: Drafted by the Chicago Fire with the eighth pick in the fourth round (65th overall) of the 2014 MLS Super Draft… Signed a professional contract with the expansion Arizona United SC, of the USL PRO league on April 10.  


Career Summary/2013: Started all 41 contests he appeared in with the Retrievers in two seasons… Amassed 12 goals and added seven assists for 31 points… Placed third in America East with points per game (18, 0.95) in 2013 and was fourth in goals per contest (7, 0.37)… Led the Retrievers with 76 shots and recorded three game-wining goals… Debuted in 2013 with a career-best two assists in the 3-1 victory over Seattle… Scored his first goal of the year on his first career penalty kick opportunity versus Central Connecticut on Sept. 5… Recorded his lone multiple-point game of the season with a goal and a helper at Loyola on Sept. 21…  Scored game-winners in UMBC come-from-behind victories on the road at Hartford (Oct. 5) and at Vermont (Oct. 16)… The header for the game-winner in Burlington occurred with 12 seconds left in regulation time… Recorded a season-high eight shots and tallied the GWG with 4:48 remaining in the second overtime period in the America East semifinals as UMBC edged Albany, 2-1. 

 

2012: Scored his first collegiate goal in the Retrievers’ 3-1 loss at No. 3 Maryland on Sept. 11… Collected his first game-winning goal with a score in the ’47 minute in an eventual 2-0 victory over Loyola on Sept. 19… Scored the game’s first goal and GWG on a semi-breakaway in the 20’ vs. Binghamton on Oct. 27… Produced a multiple-point game when he added an assist in the 3-0 victory over the Bearcats… Tallied UMBC’s final goal of the year, recording the game-winner in the 23’ minute as UMBC blanked Stony Brook, 1-0, in the America East semifinals… Stole a SBU pass at the 30-yard line, dashed to goal, and beat the Seawolf netminder inside the near left post for the game’s lone score… Tied Caringi for the club lead with three-game winning goals and UMBC was undefeated (5-0-0) in games when he hit the nets... Tied for ninth in America East with 13 total points.

 

2011: Matriculated at UMBC during the 2011-12 academic year, but did not compete for the Retrievers.

Background: Majoring in media and communication studies… Cited as a 2010 NSCAA Junior College First-Team All-American while competing for Mercer County CC… Scored 14 goals and added six assists during his two-year tenure at MCCC and was the Region 19 Player of the Year last fall… Competed for the U-15, U-17 and U-18 United States national team and for Met Oval in the U.S. Development Academy… Scored two goals for Met Oval vs. New England Revolution development academy team in a 4-0 win in the spring 2009… Competed on New York Hota Academy 91 club squad which earned state and regional championships… Considered Cal-Santa Barbara, N.C. State, and VCU, but selected UMBC “because of its location, academics, and soccer team”… Lists favorite book as How Soccer Explains the World... Has a sister, Stephanie Aikman, who is 25… Son of Sharon Aikman and Mark Dacres… Born August 25, 1991.
