Biography

2010: Hampered by leg injuries, the 2009 starter did not compete in the first five and last five contests of the season… Saw his first action of the year as a reserve at Mount St. Mary’s on Sept. 18… Earned his first start of the campaign and played 75 minutes at FDU on Sept. 26… Also started in next two contests vs. Binghamton (Oct. 2) and at Bucknell (Oct. 5), but missed three of the next four games, playing only seven minutes in his lone action in that span vs. Boston U. (Oct. 15)… Recorded an assist in his last appearance of the year, getting a secondary helper on Levi Houapeu’s third goal of the game vs. Vermont on Oct. 27.

 
 
 

2009: Emerged as a solid wide fullback, starting 11 games before missing the final four games of the season due to a leg injury… Earned his first start vs. St. Joseph’s on Sept. 6 and started six in a row before suffering a the injury vs. Loyola on Sept. 22… Did start four more times before being shut down after the Oct. 28 contest at Hartford… Recorded his first collegiate point, an assist on Andrew Bulls’ game-tying goal in a 2-1 win over Mount St. Mary’s on Sept. 12.

 
 
 

2008: Saw action in four games in his initial campaign. 

 
 

Background: Majoring in interdisciplinary studies… Earned Coaches’ and Capital Gazette’s All-County selection in both his junior and senior seasons… Selected to the All-State Team after his 2007 fall campaign… Captained both his high school and club teams… Despite an illness, scored a goal and added an assist in Arundel’s 4-1 win over Severna Park to win the 2006 county title… A member of the National Honor Society and an honor roll student every marking period… Became a Retriever because “UMBC has a tradition of strong academics and a very strong men’s soccer program”… The second-oldest of five brothers, all of whom compete in soccer… The eldest, Brandon, earned two letters for the 2007 and 2008 UMBC squads, while Corbin will join him on the 2011 UMBC side… UMBC soccer has had seven other sets of brothers to wear the black and gold, but the McCarrons are the first threesome to all compete for the Retrievers… Enjoys the music of Jimi Hendrix and the movie Gladiator… Son of Cristen and Mike McCarron… Born Dec. 7, 1990.
