Biography

Accolades: (2019) Selected to the America East Winter/Spring Honor Roll... (2017) Tabbed to America East Winter/Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

 

2020: Competed in all five games in his final campaign… Collected a career-best four ground balls and added an assist in the victory over Sacred Heart… Took part in 47 career games for the Retrievers, amassing five goals, six assists, 32 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers.

 

2019: Posted career highs in games played (15), ground balls (19) and caused turnovers (8) as one of the Retrievers’ top short-stick defensive midfielders… Contributed assists versus High Point and Hartford… Also garnered a season-high three ground balls at High Point.

 

2018: Competed in 13 games, making the conversion to a short-stick defensive midfielder… Recorded career high seven ground balls and two caused turnovers… Did not commit a turnover in his last 10 games… Collected two ground balls and caused a miscue in UMBC’s 7-4 win over Marist.  

 

 

2017: Competed in two games before a leg injury ended his season… Contributed an assist versus Hopkins on Feb. 11 and got a starting midfield assignment the following week at Richmond… Put three of four shots on goal versus the Spiders, but did not score. 

 

2016: Saw action in all 14 games and earned five starts at midfield… Scored twice, putting in both shots in his second game/first start at Ohio State on Feb. 26… Followed up with a pair of helpers versus Towson in the home debut…  Produced another multiple-point game with a goal and an assist in league lid-lifter at Binghamton… Credited with the game-winning goal at Mount St. Mary’s on April 12.

 

Background: Earned three letters in lacrosse and two in basketball… Led the basketball team in scoring and was named team MVP in 2014-15… Served as the team captain for the 2015 varsity lacrosse team… Led the team in assists, goals and points and was voted team MVP… Earned Second Team All-Howard County honors in 2014 and a First Team accolades in 2015…Named a finalist for the Howard County Player of the Year as well as a C. Markland Kelly Award finalist last spring… Competing in the Maryland State Lacrosse Coaches’ Senior All–Star game… Voted 2015 Marriotts Ridge Outstanding Male Athlete and completed the Project Lead the Way Program at Marriotts Ridge – a four-year engineering program… A four-year honor roll student… His father, Gary (’77), was a three-time All-American defenseman at UMBC (1975-77)… The youngest of five siblings – sisters Becky and Abbey played lacrosse at Maryland… Lists favorite professional team as the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens… Son of JoAnn and Gary Clipp.
