Accolades: (2017-18) Selected to National College Athlete Honor Society.

 

2018-19: Was unable to compete due to a back injury. 

 

2017-18 Season: Appeared in his first Retriever game, scoring four points in 17 minutes in his home state (at SMU)... Posted his first game in double figures, hitting 9-of-10 free throw attempts in an 11-point effort versus Central Penn... Tallied season-best 12 points versus Army and converted all five field goal attempts in the two games at The Citadel... Struggled with illness in last three games before the break and played sparingly... Scored season-best 13 points in 14 minutes vs. Centenary... Suffered lower body injury in practice prior to Jan. 28 game vs. Binghamton and did not dress for 12 games until being cleared to play (and dressed) in AE title game at Vermont… Did not see action in the final 15 contests.

 

Background: Averaged 17.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game last season for a Temple College squad which posted a 24-7 record and averaged 109.0 points per game… Shot 59.2 percent from the field and contributed 43 steals and 34 blocked shots… Earned Northern Texas Junior College First Team All-Conference honors…In two seasons for the Leopards, he started all 62 games amassed 895 points… A three-year letterwinner at Rider High School in Wichita Falls… Averaged 11 points and six rebounds per game in his senior year and earned Second Team All-District and First Team All-State Academic honors…Scored 30 points and added 18 rebounds to lead Rider over Denton in a playoff-clinching game…Earned Academic All-State honors in his senior campaign of 2013-14…  Father, Kurt, was a four-year basketball player at Wisconsin, averaging 4.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in 118 games for the Badgers from 1986-90… Lists his favorite professional teams as the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and the NFL’s Green Bay Packers… Enjoys video games, especially Mario Kart, and off-trail hiking… The oldest of three siblings… Son of Laurie and Kurt Portmann.
