Played a huge role in UMBC’s win over The Citadel on Dec. 19 - scored a season-high 10 points in 15 minutes... It was his first double-figure effort since tallying 13 in the opener of the 2015-16 season at Wake Forest… Scored seven points in 11 minutes versus Albany on Jan. 16.
2015-16: Debuted with a season-high 13 points in 21 minutes at Wake Forest… Followed up with a nine-point effort at St. John’s on Nov .16… Corralled a season-best four rebounds in 30 minutes of action versus the Red Storm… Started the first six games of the campaign… Produced a pair of seven-point efforts in America East play, in home contests versus Albany (Feb. 3) and Stony Brook (Feb. 11).
2014-15: Hit his first field goal (a trey) as a Retriever at Minnesota on Nov. 22... Posted his first career game in doubles with 11 points vs. Towson on Nov. 29... Hit four treys (4/6) and led Retrievers with 15 points at GW on Dec. 4... Tied then season-best with four treys made in the Dec. 14 win over Longwood... Also posted season highs in rebounds (5)... Made his first collegiate start vs. NJIT and posted fourth game in double figures with 10 points... Was 15-of-34 from behind the arc (44.1%) over a seven-game stretch until missing all six attempts vs. Vermont on Jan. 17... In the three games after struggling versus the Catamounts, he averaged 10.1 ppg and hit 8 of 13 shots (61.5%) from behind the arc... Scored 15 points, to lead UMBC, in 67-51 loss at UML on Feb. 5... Tied that figure and set new season best with four helpers in triumph over Maine on Feb. 21... Finished in sixth place in America East games with 1.9 treys made per game and in 3-pt. field goal percentage (40.3%)... Had hit a trey in 13 consecutive games, but was held off the board in 21 minutes at Binghamton ... Placed second in AE games in free throw percentage (20-of-22, 90.9%)...Converted the sixth-most treys (48) of any UMBC freshman in school history.
Background: Majoring in financial economics… Attended Northwood (Md.) High School before prepping at Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, N.H… Averaged 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game during his final season at Northwood in 2011-12… Earned team’s MVP honors that season… Also competed in football for the Gladiators and was a Division I prospect on the gridiron… In his first year at KUA, helped the Wildcats to a record of 19-8 and a NEPSAC-AA postseason berth… Selected to 2014 All-League squad, as team posted a record of 21-7 and were the league runners-up… Competed in New England Recruiting Report All-Star game and earned MVP honors… A member of the Beyond Belief Program, a mentoring program that has helped mold him as a student-athlete… Selected UMBC amongst other DI offers because “I felt I had the strongest connection with the coaching staff and players and I loved the proximity to home”… The oldest of three siblings… Son of Liz and Duncan Brent.
