Accolades: Named America East Rookie of the Week for games ending Dec. 21, 2014... Selected to One Bid Wonders' America East Conference All-Rookie Team. (2015-16): Earned a place on the America East Conference Winter-Spring Honor Roll.

 

Record-Book Material: Set the UMBC school record for games played with 129... Became the first player in school history to compete in 30 or more games in his first three seasons (then four) of competition... Sits in seventh place on all-time assists list (350) and ninth place on all-time list for minutes played (3,349)... Fell just 22 points shy of 1,000, now tied with John Zito ('06) for 24th place in school history with 978. 

 

2017-18:  Tied career high with 9 helpers vs. Central Penn (11-16) and knotted his career best with three treys at Colgate (11-19)... Competed in his 100th career game vs. Chicago State... Played sparingly versus Army and sat out the next two games, due to injury... Reached double figures for first time since Dec. 17 with 10 at Maine on Jan. 10... Hit the first UMBC trey in UMBC Event Center history... Scored season-high 16 points, knocking down all 5 field goal attempts at UNH (2-11)... Started on Senior Day vs. UML and surpassed 200 pts. - acheiving that plateau for the fourth consecutive year... Averaged 10.7 ppg and led team with 10 (of 13) free throws made in the three games of the America East Tournament... More than doubled his number of treys made (38) from any prior season... Converted 14 of his last 30 treys over his final 12 career contests.    

 

2016-17:  Reached the 500-point plateau and 200-assist mark in the same game in a start versus. Delaware State... Scored 2 points on Dec. 19 vs. The Citadel... Corralled career-best nine rebounds vs. Binghamton on Jan. 5 and added five assists (no miscues) in 26 minutes... Reached double figures at Vermont on Jan. 13, scoring 10 points in 27 minutes... Scored a season-high 15 points, leading UMBC effort at Albany on Feb. 15... Played a season-high 33 minutes at UNH on Feb. 25 and contributed 12 points and eight caroms... Posted season-best six assists and scored 10 points in CIT opener vs. Fairfield… Tallied the same number of points (233) in his sophomore and junior seasons, but increased his efficiency, hitting a career-best 48.2 percent from the floor.

 

2015-16:  Tied his career high with a 20-point effort at Wake Forest in the opener… Added a game-high five  assists… Knocked down 12-of-14 free throws in an 18-point performance in first career game off the bench versus Colgate on Nov. 28... The 12 free throws made are tied for 8th-best figure in a single game in UMBC’s DI history… Tied a career best with nine assists vs. Binghamton on Feb. 24… Averaged 14.5 points in two contests versus UNH, including a 15-point effort on Jan. 30… Also scored 15 points at Hartford on Feb. 17… Hit 50 percent from the floor (45-of-90) in 16 America East contests… Finished fourth in America East in steals per game (1.3)… His 41 steals is tied for eighth for all-time Retriever sophomores… Needs 11 points to reach the 500-point plateau, two assists to reach 200 and ten steals to hit the 100-mark.    

 

 

2014-15: Debuted in the starting lineup for UMBC at Akron on Nov. 14 and scored nine points in 28 minutes... Became fifth different player to start at point guard slot in season opener in the last five years... Led team in rebounding (7) and recorded five assists at Minnesota on Nov. 22... Recorded his first career double-figures scoring effort with 10 points vs. Howard on Nov. 25, then contributed a 12-point effort four days later vs. Towson... Stuffed stat sheet with 11 points, five boards, five assists and three thefts in 40 minutes at Kennesaw State...  Posted nine assists against a single miscue in 44 minutes of action versus UML in his America East debut on Jan. 5... The nine helpers were the most for a Retriever since Chris De La Rosa dished out 10 at VMI in November of 2011 and tied for the third-most ever by a UMBC freshman...Scored 18 points and added six assists, with just one miscue vs. UNH on Jan. 11... Played all 40 minutes and posted a season-best eight caroms at Stony Brook on Jan. 14... Hit a UMBC season-best 10 (of 12) free throws vs. Vermont on Jan. 17... Scored 18 points in victory at Maine on Jan. 22... Recorded a season-high 20 points and a trio of treys vs. Binghamton on Jan. 28... Led UMBC in scoring (19), rebounds and assists (6) in season finale at Binghamton a month later... Became the sixth UMBC DI freshman to record 100 assists in a season and his 121 helpers tied set a new Retriever all-time mark... Became just the third UMBC freshman (and sixth player) to record 200 points, 100 rebounds and 100 assists in a season... Has averaged the second-most minutes played per game (34.9, two minutes behind UCF’s Adonys Henriquez) of any freshman in the nation and was 97th overall... Became the 12th DI Retriever to play 1,000 in a season (1,048) and his total is the eighth-most in school history... Lead the conference in assists per game (4.0) and minutes played per game, assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2) and was tied for fourth (with teammate Devarick Houston) in steals (1.6) per game.    

 

Background: Majoring in media and communication studies... Started for the Cavaliers for three seasons and served as team captain as a junior and a senior… Helped lead Archbishop Spalding to the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference semifinals and the Baltimore Catholic League finals that season…  Averaged 12.3 points, 5.8 assists and 3.7 steals per contest in 2012-13… Earned First Team MIAA honors, First Team Anne Arundel County honors, Second Team All-Baltimore Catholic League honors and was named to the Baltimore Catholic League All-Tournament team… Elevated his game as a senior, earning First Team BCL accolades… Posted 18.5 points, 5.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds per outing in 2013-14… Competed at the 2014 Capital Gazette All-Star Basketball Classic…  Lists favorite book as The Great Gatsby… Enjoys playing the piano… Has an older brother, Kyle… Father, Maurice, qualified for the US Olympic trials in track & field… Son of Caryl King-Grant and Maurice Grant.
