Kashaun Hicks joined the Retriever coaching staff as a graduate assistant for the 2022-23 season.
 
Hicks is a 2021 graduate of Norfolk State, where he was a two-year member of the Spartans' men's basketball team.  NSU won the 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship and the squad went on to win their First Four NCAA Tournament contest against Appalachian State at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana. Hicks was a big contributor to the team’s success that season as he averaged 8.0 points, 4.0 rebounds in 20.0 minutes while shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc, the ninth-best mark in NSU Division I history.
 
The Harlem, New York native began his collegiate career at Central Connecticut State, where he played two seasons and appeared in 49 games for the Blue Devils in the Northeast Conference (NEC).
 
Hicks earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Media and Communication from Norfolk State after receiving a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from CCSU in 2019.
 
In 2020-21, he acted as head coach for the varsity and was the assistant for the junior varsity at the New York City Lab School and also worked as a coach at the NYC School of the Future that year.
 
During the summer of 2021, Hicks also conducted workouts with some of the NBA’s top-performers as he assisted Ronnie Taylor, a professional skills trainer at the Taylor Sports Group in Miami, Florida. He collaborated with players such as Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland Cavaliers), James Bouknight (Charlotte Hornets), John Wall (Los Angeles Clippers), Scottie Pippen Jr. (Los Angeles Lakers) and PJ Tucker (Philadelphia 76ers).
 
Prior to enrolling at CCSU, Hicks starred at The MacDuffie School in Granby, Massachusetts, where he garnered Class AA honorable mention accolades as a junior. He was ranked 14th in the state of Massachusetts in the Class of 2016 by the New England Recruiting Report.
