Chris Kahler

Chris Kahler was named the Pitching Coach for the Retrievers in July 2025. Kahler previously served as the Director of Player Development this past summer after the conclusion of his playing career at East Carolina.

Kahler finished up his playing career in 2024 at East Carolina. He amassed 39 innings with the Pirates during his senior season, starting six of his twenty-one appearances. Kahler was a part of several key games throughout his time at ECU, pitching in the Greenville Regional and against teams such as North Carolina, Duke, Campbell, and Tulane. He was also a part of a combined no-hitter against Elon during the year, which was the first since 2000 for the Pirates. Kahler helped the Pirates bring an AAC Regular Season Championship back to Greenville, along with hosting the 2024 NCAA Regional as the 16th seed in the country. Additionally, Kahler earned a spot on the AAC All Academic Team for the 2023-24 season.

Prior to his time at ECU, Kahler played three years for George Washington University. While at GW, he pitched to a 4.61 ERA in 52 appearances. During the 2023 season, Kahler was a staple for the Colonials pitching staff. He earned 2nd Team All A10 honors, led the conference in WHIP, third in the nation with three complete games, and yielded hitters to a .241 BAA. Kahler also accumulated A10 Pitcher of the Week 2x throughout the 2023 season with back to back complete games against Fordham and VCU.

After the 2023 season, Kahler earned an opportunity to pitch up in the prestigious Cape Cod League. While up in the Cape, Kahler played for Cotuit Kettleers, where he was a part of a team which featured twenty-seven draft picks and four free agents that summer. He pitched to a stellar 1.05 ERA and 0.76 WHIP. He was in the top ten for WAR while he was up in the Cape and was within the top five in the ERA, WHIP, Games Started, and BAA during the first half of the summer.

Kahler studied Interpersonal Communications and graduated Magna Cum Laude from East Carolina in 2024.
