UMBC Parts Ways with Men's Lacrosse Coach

UMBC has terminated Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Ryan Moran, as announced today by Director of Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation Tiffany D. Tucker

Moran had been on administrative leave since October 2025, after allegations were raised by a student-athlete and a subsequent investigation through the UMBC Office of Equity and Civil Rights (ECR).

Following the conclusion of the University's investigation and appeal process, the decision was made to change the leadership of the men's lacrosse program.

"As the Director of Athletics, I made a personnel decision based on Coach Moran's contract. Upon review of the facts and circumstances, I concluded that Coach Moran violated provisions of his contract related to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the student athletes in his charge," said Tucker. "This decision was made in alignment with those standards and the vision and culture we are building for UMBC Athletics."

Acting Head Coach Craig Chick will continue to lead the men's lacrosse program on an interim basis. UMBC will immediately launch a national search for its next Men's Lacrosse Head Coach.
