Baltimore, MD – The UMBC Baseball team fell in game two against UMass Lowell, 9-7, in extra innings on Saturday evening.
Dylan Melton went 2-3 with two runs and three walks. Danny Orr, Danny Wyatt, Anthony Mascuilli, and Brooks Henderson each had two hits. Ehi Okojie, Kyle Eddington, and Derek Paris also had a hit for the Retrievers with Paris picking up two RBI.
Okojie hit a double to right field in the sixth inning to score Melton and tie the game up at five.
UMass Lowell would score a run at the top of the eighth inning. Mascuilli would single to score pinch-runner Luke Buscaglia at the bottom of the eighth, which would send the game to extra innings.
UMBC had bases loaded in the tenth inning and Okojie would score on a wild pitch, but the River Hawks would hold on to take game two.
Brady Fox came on the mound for Zach Robinson and pitched 5.2 innings while only allowing one hit and striking out five batters.
The Retrievers will wrap up the series tomorrow against the River Hawks. First pitch has been moved to 2 pm.
