BOSTON -- Following an incredible week in the circle, UMBC Softball freshman
Jayda Koontz has been named the America East Pitcher of the Week, the Conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Koontz went 3-0 with a save and a 0.95 ERA in four appearances. She struck out 20 batters, walked just four, allowed only three earned runs in 22.0 innings, and pitched complete game victories in all three starts.
In addition, UMBC's scheduled Wednesday doubleheader at Mount St. Mary's has been postponed and will be made up as a single game on April 1 at 2 p.m. in Emmitsburg.Â
The Dawwgs open America East play on Saturday at defending champion Binghamton. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
