Women's Basketball Falls in Rematch at Binghamton

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - UMBC fell at Binghamton on Thursday night, 73-59, as the Bearcats took over sole possession of first place in the America East.

After beating Binghamton in the first meeting at home, UMBC hit the road for the return trip, giving the Bearcats all they could handle for the first three-plus quarters before Binghamton pulled away late.

The Retrievers entered the fourth quarter trailing by just a point (52-51), but Binghamton used a 14-2 run to pull away midway through the period.

Jade Tillman paced the Retrievers with 19 points, eight rebounds, and two steals, marking her 16th game this season as the team's leading scorer. Carmen Yánez added 11 points and three assists for UMBC. Tillman and Yánez combined for six of the team's nine makes from distance, as the Retrievers tied for their most three-pointers made in a game this season. Heidi Williams chipped in with nine points on 4-8 shooting.

Bella Pucci finished with 23 points for Binghamton, while Kendall Bennett added a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds.

The Retrievers are off this weekend before returning to action on Thursday night at the 'Peake as they host Maine at 6 p.m.
