Wagner battled back in the second period, scoring three straight goals to tie the contest at 3-3 with 6:30 left in the opening half before Emily Knapp's first goal of the contest gave UMBC a 4-3 halftime lead.

The Seahawks would score the first two goals of the second half, pulling ahead 5-4 with 12:30 on the third quarter clock, but Knapp quickly knotted things back up at 5-5 with her second goal of the game. UMBC took the lead for good with 4:29 left in the third, as Knapp completed her hat trick. Macintosh followed less than a minute later with a free-position goal to push the Retrievers ahead 7-5.

The momentum kept rolling for the Retrievers in the fourth, as they outscored Wagner 5-0 to finish off the 12-5 victory. Annika Wray got on the board with her fourth goal of the season to make it 8-5 in favor of UMBC. Olivia Worden and Mya Stewart-Parsons joined Wray with goals before Wray's second of the quarter made it 11-5 with 5:42 to play.
