UMBC Finishes Regular Season Slate With Dominant Win Over UMass Lowell

Box Score BALTIMORE - Celebrating Senior Day while closing out the regular season on Saturday, UMBC defeated UMass Lowell, 66-43, to improve to 15-13 overall and 10-6 in America East play.

UMBC is locked into the fourth-seed in the America East Championships and will host the winner of today's Bryant and NJIT game on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Heidi Williams paced the Retrievers with 19 points, four rebounds, and four assists in the victory. Jade Tillman added her sixth double-double of the season, finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Carmen Yánez stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Delaney Yarborough, who was honored alongside Yánez on Senior Day, finished with seven points, six rebounds, and two blocks.

The Retrievers roared out of the gates, taking an 18-4 lead. UMass Lowell scored the first two points of the contest before UMBC went on a 16-0 run.

A pair of Jaini Edmonds free throws in the second quarter pulled the River Hawks within five, but Tillman scored the final four points of the quarter, hitting a jumper at the buzzer to put the Retrievers ahead 34-25 at the break.

UMBC's lead quickly grew to 15 in the third quarter after a Williams three-point play with 6:28 on the clock. It would fall back to 10 before a Gabby Scott triple pushed the gap to 15 heading into the final quarter. The Retriever lead would grow to 26 on a Tillman three in the fourth with UMBC closing out a 23-point conference victory.

The Retrievers finish 10-6 in league play for the first time since 2022-23, tying for the program's best record in league play since the Retrievers went 13-3 in 2010-11.

With 10 free throws made, Tillman moved into a tie for seventh all-time in UMBC history with 112 free throws on the season. She currently ranks third in program history, making 86.2 percent of her attempts.

With her 19 points, Williams moves into eighth on the all-time freshman scoring list with 283 points. She sits fourth on the freshman list in steals with 54 and ninth in field goals made with 112.

We will see you at the 'Peake on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. for the America East Quarterfinals!
