BOSTON -
Heidi Williams was named America East Rookie of the Week for the sixth time, tying Sara Tarbert for the most in UMBC program history.
Williams joins Tarbert, who received the honors during the 2013-14 season, as the only players in program history to receive five or more Rookie of the Week honors.
This past week, Williams averaged 9.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game as the Retrievers split a pair of home contests against Maine and New Hampshire.
In a tight loss on Thursday to Maine, Williams shot 50 percent from the field and contributed 12 points, six rebounds, and two steals. The Retrievers bounced back with a 17-point win over New Hampshire on Saturday, as Williams once again shot 50 percent from the field and added seven points, seven rebounds, and two steals.
During America East play this season, Williams is averaging 11.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game. She has scored in double figures in six of 12 league games this season.
Williams and the Retrievers head to Vermont on Thursday for a mid-week America East tilt.
