UMBC has opened the America East Conference slate with three victories after a 3-0 sweep of NJIT on Sunday at the Peake.Â
Claudia Llamas had 14 kills on .462 hitting with five blocks to lead a UMBC offense that hit .308 in a sweep of the Highlanders.
Natalie Harris had another double-double, tallying 12 kills and 10 digs (eight in the first set), while
Hannah Dobbs added 11 kills (.333 hitting), four digs, three aces, two blocks and an assist.
Grace Larrivee had six kills (.444 hitting) and five blocks, and fellow middle
Jalynn Brown picked up four kills (.500 hitting) and four blocks. Binghamton is 0-2 in the league after a 3-2 home loss to Bryant last Saturday.

The men and women opened the season with a tri-meet victories against American and VMI this past Saturday at the UMBC Aquatic Center.
Braden Weise won three events as he took first in the 50 Free (20.47), 100 Free (45.76) and was on the winning 200 Medley relay team (1:33.14) with
Quinn Marchionini,
Matthew So and
Axel Mori that led off the meet. Freshman
Eunice Cheung was the star in the swimming portion for UMBC, taking first in all four events she competed in in her collegiate debut. She was the third leg on both the winning 200 medley relay and 400 free relay teams and took first in the 100 (57.47) and 200 fly (2:09.93, a near four-second victory.

In a tightly contested America East Conference matchup in Rhode Island on Friday evening, the Dawgs fell 1-0 to the No. 25-ranked Bryant Bulldogs. Despite creating several dangerous attacking opportunities and pressing high up the field, the Retrievers couldn't capitalize. UMBC, now 3-5-1 (0-2 AE), finished with a narrow 8-7 advantage in total shots and attempted two corner kicks, compared to Bryant's single corner. Vermont is coming off a 1-1 draw against NJIT in Burlington on Saturday.

The red-hot UMBC women's soccer team matched a season high with five goals, and the Retrievers went on to a 5-0 blowout victory over America East rival UAlbany Sunday afternoon at Retriever Soccer Park. UMBC, now second in the league standings with nine points, has won three consecutive league contests to improve to 3-1 and upped its overall record to 9-3-2. One more win would give the Dawgs their first double-digit win season since they finished 12-4-3 in 2014. Â The three conference victories are the most since they went 3-3-2 in 2015. Binghamton leads the conference with ten points, just one ahead of the Retrievers.

The 2025-26 defending America East Champions take the floor for the first time this season when they host LIU in an exhibition game. The Sharks, coached by former NBA star Rod Strickland, also appeared in the NCAA Tournament last season. Maryland will take on Georgia Tech in the second game at 4:30 p.m. Fans can watch both games for the price of one.
