BOSTON - For the third consecutive week, and fifth time this season,
Heidi Williams was named America East Rookie of the Week. Williams is the first Retriever since Michelle Kurowski in December, 2008 to win the award in three straight weeks. Williams is just one honor shy of Sara Tarbert's record six Rookie of the Week honors set back in the 2013-14 season.
Williams had a career performance on Saturday, scoring 22 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and nabbing four steals. Williams was instrumental in an efficient offensive performance, making nine of her 14 shots to push the Retrievers to their fifth straight America East win.
The Maryland native added six points, eight rebounds, and two steals in a comeback road win at NJIT on Thursday as well.
Williams now averages 10.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the season, ticking those numbers up to 12.3 points and 5.7 rebounds so far in league play.
UMBC hosts Vermont on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. inside the 'Peake. The first 500 UMBC students will receive a Retriever-branded crewneck.
