Women's Basketball Makes it Five Straight League Wins at UMass Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. - UMBC never trailed on Saturday afternoon, going wire-to-wire for its fifth straight America East victory, defeating UMass Lowell 75-52. The Retrievers have won five straight conference games for the first time since the 2016-17 season.

The Retrievers shot a Division I season-best 51.8 percent from the field in the victory, jumping out to an early lead thanks to an efficient first quarter, during which they knocked down nine of 13 shots.

Heidi Williams scored a career-high 22 points and added seven rebounds and four steals in another dominant performance. The four-time America East Rookie of the Week was 10-15 from the floor in 28 minutes. Williams is averaging 12.3 points per game in America East play and boosted her season scoring average to 10.1 per game.

Jade Tillman continued her torrid stretch, scoring 19 points, pulling down nine rebounds, and handing out four assists. Tillman matches Ashia McCalla's 2023 streak of 12 straight games in double figures and finished one rebound shy of her fourth straight double-double. The junior opened the contest on a solo 9-0 run, making her first three attempts from three in the first 2:03 of the game.

Delaney Yarborough and Alaina Williams combined for 21 points and six rebounds inside for the Retrievers, while Carmen Yánez dished out six assists, moving her into 14th all-time on the UMBC career assists list with 237.

The Retrievers held UMass Lowell to 52 points, making it six straight contests holding their opponent under 60 points. UMBC evens up the all-time series against UMass Lowell to 12-12, winning the last three matchups.

Jaini Edmonds led UMass Lowell with 20 points and six rebounds on Saturday afternoon.
