BOSTON - After a 2-0 week that saw the Retrievers knock off previously unbeaten league foes Bryant and Binghamton,
Jade Tillman and
Heidi Williams swept the America East weekly awards.
The duo is the first UMBC pair to sweep the weekly honors since Te'ylah Oliver and Lyric Swann on Jan. 27, 2020.
The America East Player of the Week nod is Tillman's first and the Retrievers' first of the season. The America East Rookie of the Week honor is Williams' fourth and UMBC's sixth of the 2025-26 campaign.
In the wins over the Bulldogs and the Bearcats, Tillman averaged 21 points and 10.5 rebounds, becoming the first Retriever to record back-to-back double-doubles since 2023. Tillman has scored 12 or more points in 10 straight games, averaging 17.9 points per contest during that stretch. Tillman scored 16 of her 42 points in the fourth quarter of the wins.
Williams becomes the second Retriever this season to win back-to-back America East Rookie of the Week honors, joining
Kennedy Austin. Williams also becomes the first UMBC player since Sara Tarbert in 2014 to earn four weekly awards in a season.
Williams averaged 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in the two victories, putting forth a dominant effort versus Binghamton. Williams scored 17 points, pulled down six rebounds, and nabbed three steals in the six-point win over the Bearcats. Now averaging 9.6 points per game and 4.9 rebounds for the season, Williams has improved on those marks in league play, averaging 11.6 points and 5.0 rebounds in five America East games.
UMBC travels to NJIT on Thursday in the midst of a three-game league winning streak.
