Men's Soccer Returns Home Against George Mason on Saturday Evening

  • UMBC looks to stop a two-game losing streak on Saturday evening versus George Mason.
  • The Retrievers opened the week with a 1-0 loss against Navy in Annapolis this past Tuesday evening. The Retrievers outshot the Midshipmen 11-7 in the contest, but a 48th minute strike from Jorge Mayorga was enough to push Navy (2-2-4) past UMBC.
  • Six different Retrievers put a shot on target against Midshipmen keeper Robert Eaton, but the senior turned all six shots he faced away. 
  • Andres Javitt was one of the six UMBC players to record a shot on target, leading the way with three of the team's 10 total shots. 
  • The Dawgs are tied for second in the league with just five goals allowed this season.
  • Emigdio Tormo Lopez is fifth in the league with a .714 goals against average and owns a .821 saves percentage, which is also fifth in the conference.
  • Brady Geho is tied for 4th in the league in points (1.00 pg.) with three goals and an assist.
  • Matteo Samori is tied for the league lead with two game-winning goals.
  • UMBC is currently 13th in the country in average attendance at 1,700 fans per game.

  • The most recent contest came back on opening night 2023 when UMBC edged GMU, 4-3 in Fairfax, Va. It was a wild affair as the Retrievers led 3-0 after the first 21:54 with Taylor Calheira scoring twice.  The hosts scored the next three goals to even the match in the 62nd minute. However, Calheira finished off a hat-trick just 19 ticks later to give UMBC the win.
