Riggs and Nutile Lead Five Retriever All-Conference Selections; Softball Begins America East Tournament on Thursday

BOSTON -- Emily Riggs and Jerzie Nutile were named to both the America East All-Conference First Team and the All-Academic Team to lead five member of the UMBC Softball program in postseason honors. Abby Brenowitz, Haley Luginbill and Kya Matter earned Second Team honors, with Luginbill also being named to the All-Academic team. 

Riggs batted .400 in Conference play with five homers and 14 RBI, while reaching base safely in the first 20 games of the America East slate, while Nutile hit .304 with six home runs and 17 RBI.

Matter went 10-3 with a 2.40 ERA in America East play en route to her fourth career All-Conference selection. Abby Brenowitz had a breakout campaign, hitting .471 in Conference while Luginbill hit .317 with five homers and 18 RBI in only 18 contests. 

The Retrievers are the No.2 seed and will receive a first round bye. They will face the highest remaining seed on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in Binghamton.
