Hill Announces Two Additions to Women's Basketball Program

BALTIMORE -- UMBC Women's Basketball head coach Candice Hill has announced the addition of transfers Gabby Scott and Jade Tillman to the program for the 2025-2026 season.

Scott, a 6'0 Ellicott City native, has two years of eligibility remaining after spending her first two seasons at Towson. 

Coach Hill on Gabby: "We are thrilled to welcome Gabby and the Scott family to our program. Gabby is a dynamic forward that can shoot it from three and crash the boards relentlessly. Her athleticism and versatility make her a perfect fit for our system. Retriever Nation is going to enjoy watching Gabby play!"

About Scott:

2024-25: Did not play

2023-24: Appeared in 20 games and started in one … finished the season with 30 points … added 52 rebounds … totaled a season-high 10 points on 50% shooting while adding eight rebounds and a career-high three steals versus UMBC (Nov. 6).

2022-23: Appeared in 27 games and started three … totaled 43 points … shot 80% at the line … added 58 rebounds and 12 steals …  scored a season-high 15 points on 55.6% shooting along with five rebounds against UMES (Nov. 22).

High School: Earned All-County (Howard) and All-State (Maryland) team nods all four years in high school, including first team honors her senior year … was selected to the All-Baltimore Metro basketball team sophomore and senior years, earning first team distinction as a senior … was named third team All-Washington D.C. Metro her senior year … her Howard team won a county record 44 consecutive games, finishing her high school career with a 63-5 record … led her team to three-straight Howard County championships and two regional championships in her last two seasons ... played AAU for the Germantown Lady Panthers, finishing second in the nation in the inaugural Jr. NBA Championships in 2018 ... was chosen as the impact player of the game for the Jr. NBA Championship game and was selected to participate in their first three-point shooting contest.

Personal: Daughter of Terry and Leigh Scott ... her father, Terry, was an All-American basketball player at Franklin & Marshall College... has two siblings, Reed and Emileigh ... brother Reed played basketball at Marymount ... sister Emileigh played lacrosse at Saint Francis University.

Tillman, a 6'1 Rockville native returns to her home state after spending the first two years of her career at East Carolina. 

Coach Hill on Jade: "We are thrilled to welcome Jade and the Tillman family to our program. Jade will bring a high level of toughness on both sides of the ball and a competitive mentality. At 6'1, her versatility and ability to score inside/out will impact our program immediately. We are super excited to welcome Jade back to Maryland and for the Retriever Nation to see her in a UMBC jersey this upcoming season!"

About Tillman:

2024-25: Appeared in 26 games… Recorded 28 points, 57 rebounds, nine assists, four blocks and 11 steals… Tallied eight points, eight rebounds and two steals vs UTS (2/12).

2023-24: Appeared in 24 games and made one start… Recorded 62 points, 31 rebounds, seven assists, eight blocks and six steals… Scored six points with three assists and two steals vs. USC Upstate (11/9).

Prep: Second-Team All-WCAC honoree as a junior… Reached the WCAC championship game as a freshman… Rated a 90 overall recruit by ESPN.
 
Personal: Daughter of Shaefona and Derrick… Has two siblings, Jaihla and Joya… Graduate of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Onley, Md.
