Fairfax, Va. - UMBC's 4 x 400 relay squad established a new school record to highlight the Retrievers efforts at the 2025 Dalton Ebanks Invitational this past weekend at George Mason.
The quartet of senior
Jaeden Burke, sophomore
Alpha Balde, senior
Marquis Miller, and freshman
Alim Raji won the event with a time of 3:09.64, nearly three seconds ahead of their closest competitors.
Balde also captured the gold medal in the 100 meters with a time of 10.20. The result was the second-fastest time in program history.
Senior
Cameron Hindle won the 10,000 meters in 31:29.62, and sophomore
John Saltysiak took third in 32:31.07.
Senior
Ethan Hart won the shot put with an effort of 16.61 meters (54'6"). It was the 4th-best result in program history.
Miller and freshman
Daniel Danilovitz went home with silver medals. Miller turned in a time of 21.47 (200 meters), and Danilovitz crossed the line in 14:24.01 (5,000 meters). Miller's time was the 10th best in program history while Danilovitz recorded the third-best time in his event.
Junior
Donovan Young also medaled with a third-place performance in the triple jump (13.90 meters, 45'7.25").
Four Retrievers placed in the top seven in the 100 meters. In addition to Balde, Burke (100 meters, 10.47, 3rd), sophomore
Damon Dukes (6th, 10.58), and freshman
Alim Raji (10.62, 7th) were represented.
Other outstanding performances were turned in by Dukes (200 meters, 21.66, 5th), senior
John Dinnall (100 hurdles, 14.97, 7th), senior
Toren Burr (hammer, 175'3", 6th), senior
Ian Hoffman (pole vault, 14'1.25").
