BALTIMORE - The UMBC men's lacrosse team received hat-tricks from three players as the Retrievers cruised to a 17-7 America East Conference victory at UMBC Stadium on Senior Day at UMBC Stadium.
UMBC (6-3, 4-1 AE) took 51 shots compared to just 24 by the Bearcats (4-7, 2-2 AE), and the Retrievers dominated on faceoffs.

Tyler Barnett scored three goals each to provide all the offense the hosts needed. Senior attackman
Jordan Galloway added a goal and a pair of assists, and junior faceoff specialist
Alex Steers won 19-of-25 draws and picked up seven ground balls. Sophomore
Dylan Sharpe led the defense with four caused turnovers and six ground balls, while senior
Trey Fleece contributed three caused turnovers and seven ground balls. Junior goalie
Connor McMahon made 10 saves and picked up a pair of ground balls.
UMBC led the entire way, jumping out to a 4-0 advantage with 4:10 left in the opening quarter. Senior midfielder
Josh Tang opened the scoring with an unassisted goal 2:43 into the contest and then assisted on the fourth goal as he set up Demato. Junior defender
Dante Marinello and Barnett scored unassisted goals in between.
Binghamton closed to within 4-2 with 14:35 remaining in the second quarter as Liam Ferris scored a pair of even-up goals for the visitors.Â
The hosts answered with a 4-1 spurt to close the half and took an 8-3 lead at intermission. Freshman
Xander Maxwell ignited the scoring at 8:55 left, and Galloway set up Barnett with just eleven ticks on the clock to cap the run. Chick and freshman midfielder
Jameson Coffman also hit the back of the net during the stretch.
The Retrievers extended their lead in the third quarter, scoring five of the first six goals to widen their lead to 13-4 with 2:23 left in the stanza. Chick scored twice, including back-to-back goals during the stretch.
In the fourth quarter, UMBC outscored Binghamton by a 4-2 margin to put the game away.
Ferris paced the Bearcats with three goals, and goalie Connor Winter made 16 saves.
The Retrievers travel to NJIT next Saturday afternoon.
