BALTIMORE --
Derek Paris had a pair of key RBI hits, including the eventual game-winning one, as the UMBC Baseball team rallied from a 4-0 first inning deficit to defeat visiting Lehigh, 6-4, on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
With the Retrievers down, 4-0 after four innings, aris helped lead the charge back.
Matthew Best drove in
Nico Ong on an error that allowed Best to reach second, and he then scored on a Paris RBI double to left to halve the lead.
Kyle Eddington then scored Paris on a triple down the line in left, and
Ehi Okojie promptly tied the game with an RBI single to score Eddington.Â
It remained 4-4 until the seventh, when
Jesiah Carpenter hit a leadoff single, moved to second on a Best ground out, and then scored on a Paris RBI single.
Danny Wyatt would add insurance via an eighth inning solo homer to account for the scoring.Â
Nick Remy entered in the eighth for a two inning save and retired all six batters he faced to seal the victory.Â
Anthony Mascuilli also had a pair of hits in the contest, while
Ethan Ianni picked up the win after working a scoreless top of the seventh.
Emmett Tolis worked 2,2 scoreless innings of relief as well.Â
The rubber game of the three game series will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
