Paris Leads Baseball to Comeback Win Over Lehigh

BALTIMORE -- Derek Paris had a pair of key RBI hits, including the eventual game-winning one, as the UMBC Baseball team rallied from a 4-0 first inning deficit to defeat visiting Lehigh, 6-4, on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

With the Retrievers down, 4-0 after four innings, aris helped lead the charge back. Matthew Best drove in Nico Ong on an error that allowed Best to reach second, and he then scored on a Paris RBI double to left to halve the lead. Kyle Eddington then scored Paris on a triple down the line in left, and Ehi Okojie promptly tied the game with an RBI single to score Eddington.

It remained 4-4 until the seventh, when Jesiah Carpenter hit a leadoff single, moved to second on a Best ground out, and then scored on a Paris RBI single. Danny Wyatt would add insurance via an eighth inning solo homer to account for the scoring.

Nick Remy entered in the eighth for a two inning save and retired all six batters he faced to seal the victory.

Anthony Mascuilli also had a pair of hits in the contest, while Ethan Ianni picked up the win after working a scoreless top of the seventh. Emmett Tolis worked 2,2 scoreless innings of relief as well.

The rubber game of the three game series will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
