Paris Blasts 10th Inning Homer to Rally Baseball to 4-3 Win at Georgetown

Tysons, Virginia, -- Derek Paris blasted a 10th inning solo homer to give the UMBC Baseball team a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over host Georgetown on Saturday at Capital One Park in Virginia.

Danny Orr continued his torrid play at the plate, going 3-for-5, while both Danny Wyatt and Anthony Mascuilli had two-hit games as well. Jesiah Carpenter, Sergio Droz, Leewood Molessa, Nico Ong and Nick Pratt also had hits for UMBC. Kyle Eddington reached base three times on a pair of walks and a hit-by-pitch.

Droz had his first career RBI with a two-out single in the top of the second to score Pratt and tiw the game at one. The Hoyas re-took the lead in the second on an unearned run, they pushed the lead to 3-1 in the fifth.

Eddie Sargent was solid in his first start of the season, going five innings and allowing just three runs on five hits with three strikeouts. Ethan Ianni, Matt Cunningham and Sam Bell combined to shutout Georgetown over the final five innings, allowing just one combined hit in the process.

It remained 3-1 until the eighth when Orr and Wyatt would lead off the inning with back-to-back singles. After a sacrifice bunt from Paris moved them both into scoring position, Orr would score on a Pratt sacrifice fly. Eddington then drew a walk and Wyatt would tie the game on an Ong pinch-hit single.

Both teams would have a scoreless ninth, before Paris' lead-off blast in the tenth. Bell, who entered to start the bottom of the ninth, retired all six batters he faced to earn his second win of the season.

The win clinches the series for the Dawgs, as they will go for the sweep on Sunday at 1 p.m. with another game at Capital One Park.
