Matter and Nutile Lead Softball to America East Split

BALTIMORE -- Kya Matter struck out 13 in a complete game shutout, while Jerzie Nutile had an RBI single to give the UMBC Softball team a 1-0 win over UMass Lowell in game one of an America East doubleheader. 

The River Hawks returned the favor with a 1-0 win in game 2 after an unearned run scored on a UMBC error.

Nutile went 2-for-3 in game one, while Ella Squaires and Emily Riggs also had hits in the game for the Dawgs.

Nutile, Riggs, Parker Kraus and Skyler Smith had hits in game two. Maggie Frisvold took the tough luck loss in game 2, pitching a complete game and striking out a pair. 

The rubber game of the series is tomorrow at noon.
