BALTIMORE -- The UMBC Softball team dropped a pair to defending NEC Champion Saint Francis on Sunday at The Diamond. The Red Flash took game 1, 10-0, in five innings before completeing the sweep with a narrow 5-4 win in nine innings in the night cap.
In game 1, UMBC got hits from
Ella Squaires,
Emily Riggs,
Amya Lundy and
Meghan Shirey. In game 2, Squaires,
Haley Luginbill and
Jerzie Nutile each had two hits and an RBI, while
Emily Riggs also had a hit and drove in a run.
Erin Behel doubled and scored as well.
Nutile went all nine innings, allowing only two earned runs while striking out six.
The Retrievers head to Georgia for a tournament next weekend.
