Box Score NEWARK, NJ - Jaden Walker led the offense, recording a double-double and setting a career high 22 points with 11 rebounds, four assists, and going 10-11 at the free throw line, but the Retrievers dropped to NJIT, 83-65.
Jaliena Sanchez had 15 points and three rebounds. Talia Davis contributed 10 points and six rebounds, while Jordon Lewis had nine points and seven rebounds in the loss on Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened:
- Walker opened the game with a tip-in before the Highlanders made a layup.
- The Highlanders outshot the Retrievers 21-15 at the end of the first quarter with Walker making nine of the points.
- Davis opened the second quarter with a jumper, and the Highlanders would make it 38-30 at the end of the first half.
- Lewis opened the second half with a layup, but the Highlanders had a strong third quarter outshooting the Retrievers 22-14, 60-44 NJIT.
- Carmen Yánez opened the fourth quarter with a three and the Retrievers made five straight points but the Highlanders sealed the win, 83-65.
The Retrievers return back on the road to finish the regular conference season at UAlbany on Thursday at 6:30 pm and then Vermont on Saturday at 2 pm. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
