DeLand, Fla. -- Nico Ong went 1-for-1 with a pair of walks and a stolen base, while Jesiah Carpenter had an RBI sac fly as the UMBC Baseball team opened the 2025 season by falling to host Stetson, 11-1, in eight innings on Friday night.

Danny Orr had the other hit for the Retrievers, who drew six walks overall. Danny Wyatt walked and stole a base, and Luke Buscaglia also stole a base. Matthew Best, Derek Paris and Kyle Eddington also drew walks, with Eddington also scoring on Carpenter's fifth inning sacrifice fly.

Logan Wiley, Ayden Gonzalez and Sam Bell all had scoreless appearances out of the bullpen for the Dawgs, with Bell getting a strikeout and Chris Ho striking out a pair later on in the contest.

UMBC faces Notre Dame on Saturday at noon.
