Roberts and Young Earn America East Weekly Honors

BOSTON -- After a pair of stellar performances to begin the season, UMBC Track & Field's Ava Roberts and Enazajah Young earned weekly honors, the Conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Roberts was named the Field Performer of the Week  after she won the shot put at the Youree Spence Garcia Invite with a throw of 15.01 meters that ranks 12th in the nation, she also placed second in the weight throw at 16.58 meters.

Young earned Rookie of the Week honors by shattering a 16-year old school record as she won gold in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.50. In addition, she placed fourth in the 60 meter dash at 7.64.

UMBC will resume indoor competition at the VCU Invite on January 9th.
