Women's Hoops Closes 2025 with Record-Breaking 104-22 Win on Tuesday

BALTIMORE – All nine players who dressed made at least two baskets and scored at least six points as the UMBC Women's Basketball rolled to a 104-22 win over visiting Notre Dame of Maryland in the non-conference finale on Tuesday night. The 104 points were the most scored by UMBC in the Division I era. 




Jade Tillman scored a career-high 23 points, while Heidi Williams had her first career double-double with 15 points and a career-best 11 rebounds, while adding five steals, two assists and a block and making all six of her shots from inside the arc.

Carmen Yánez and Delaney Yarborough also had double-doubles, as Yánez tallied 11 points and a career-high tying 10 assists, and Yarborough had18 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high four blocks. Maisie Crowley picked up a career-high 11 points and seven rebounds, while Lauren Thompson scored eight, and Tiara Bellamy, Alaina Williams and Kennedy Austin each scored six. 

The Retrievers got off to a hot start on defense, forcing turnovers on the first four possessions and nine overall in the first as they took a 28-7 lead into the second quarter. UMBC held a 17-5 rebounding advantage in the first ten minutes, with 11 of them on the offensive boards. Alaina Williams had five offensive rebounds in the first quarter alone.

NDMU didn't make its first shot from the field until a three-pointer with 2:37 left in the first quarter to cut the UMBC lead to 19-7, and was 1-8 from the field in the opening frame.

The Retrievers continued to add to the lead in the second quarter as they shot a sizzling 12-18 from the field and 3-6 from three. UMBC held the Gators to just 2-16 shooting in the second frame. 

UMBC had a 18-0 run that spanned the second and third quarters to build the lead to 69-12 midway through the third. The Gators hit their first shot of the second half with 2:51 left  but UMBC responded by scoring the final 11 points of the quarter to take an 87-16 lead into the fourth. In the third, the Dawgs shot 13-21 from the floor.

The Retrievers outscored Notre Dame 17-6 in the fourth en route to the victory. 

UMBC opens America East play by hosting NJIT on Thursday 1/1 at 6:30 p.m.
