Durham, NH – The No. 5-seeded UMBC men's soccer season came to an end after they failed to advance in penalty kicks in the America East quarterfinal round against No. 4 New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium.
UMBC (6-6-5) was unable to create many scoring opportunities over 110 minutes of play, and the Wildcats eventually won in a penalty kick shootout, by a score of 5-3.
After the score was deadlocked at 1-1 in the shootout, junior forward
Brady Geho misfired on his attempt, and the hosts went on to hit the back of the net four more times to put the game away.
UMBC elected to go with sophomore
Jackson Boonmast in penalty kicks over starter
Emigdio Tormo Lopez (six saves).
Wildcats' goalie Scott Williams was required to make just one stop.
Geho had three of the Retrievers' five shots, with
Gunder Miller and
Kofi Amoah each having one shot.
