The UMBC Volleyball team will look to get back into the win column this weekend when it hosts Binghamton on Sunday at 1 p.m. in their annual Spread Respect Match. The first 250 fans will receive a free America East Spread Respect sticker.
Last time out,
Hannah Dobbs had a team-high 12 kills to go with eight digs, but the UMBC Volleyball team dropped a four-set decision to visiting UAlbany (25-14, 14-25, 25-20, 25-15) on Saturday afternoon at The Peake
Jalynn Brown had eight kills and 13 digs, while
Claudia Llamas tallied 11 kills and six digs.
Laura Fuehrer added nine kills and five blocks, and
Hannah Howard collected 17 digs.
Izzy Ostvig collected 22 assists, while
Serin Maden added 18 assists and three aces.
The two teams met three weeks ago in New York a Llamas tallied a career-best 19 kills on .316 hitting, but the Dawgs could not complete a big rally as it fell in four sets (25-22, 25-16, 11-25, 27-25).
Howard led the way on defense with 25 digs, while Fuehrer added nine kills (.438) and a team-high six blocks.
Ostvig picked up 27 assists, eight digs, four kills and two blocks, as she split time at setter with Maden, who finished with 25 assists of her own.
Brown
was second on the team with 13 kills, and Dobbs added eight kills and seven digs.
Helen Frankovich also contributed four kills in the effort.
Scouting Binghamton:
- BU played its final non-conference match of the season, where they defeated New Haven (2-18, 1-8 NEC) in straight sets (25-22, 25-19, 25-12) at the Charger Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.
- Regan Kadel exploded for a new career-high of 39 assists in just three sets played.
- Merima Smajlovic (13), Maya Coblentz-Brown (13) and Viktoria Dimitrova (11) each tallied double-digit kills
- AE Defensive Player of the Week Emily Cronkhite recorded 15 digs in the Bearcats' victory.
