Alice Marini set a new meet record in the 200 IM as the UMBC Swimming & Diving team completed a successful first day at the Thomas Murphy Invitational hosted by Loyola Maryland on Friday.

Marini raced out to a big lead and touched the wall at 2:03.21 to give UMBC its first win of the weekend. On the Men's side,
Matthew So continued his impressive freshman campaign by racing as the opening leg in the second place finishing 800 Free Relay, and he also won his heat in the 50 Free (21.05).
Fellow freshman
Stefano Perez qualified for the A final in the 50 Free and took sixth with a time of 20.71. Perez was also joined by classmates
Quinn Marchionini and Brandon Wiese, along with
Sean Neils to take third in the 200 Medley Relay. (1:29.92). Weise also qualified for the A final in the 50 Free, while classmate Luke Escola won his heat in the 200 IM.

Breanna Smith and
Claire Oettinger took third in the 800 Free Relay. Smith took fourth in the 200 IM, while
Erma Duratovic qualified for the finals of the 50 Free.
