The UMBC Volleyball team continues its tough non-conference slate when it plays host to High Point and Princeton on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
First serve for both matches will be at 5 p.m.
Scouting High Point:
- High Point is 4-4 this season, they have won two of their last three games after going on a three game losing streak from August 31st to September 6th
- High Point are playing UMBC as a part of a DC tournament where they will also play Howard this weekend
- High Point played UMBC last season for the first time in their schools history, the Panthers ended up winning 3-1
- Last season High Point finished 23-8 and had an undefeated record in the Big South conference and at home, they made it to the first round of the NCAA tournament but lost to Tennessee
- Junior libero Jordyn Schilling is the team leader in digs this season with 151, last season she was named to the Big South All-Conference first team and averaged 4.15 digs per set
- Dylan Maberry just won Big South player of the week for her performance during the James Madison invitational, in two games the grad student posted 41 kills, 23 digs, and three service aces
- Senior setter Allie Gray is the Panthers leader in assists this season with 196, last season she was named the Big South setter of the year and had a career high 58 assists against Winthrop in the Big South Championship
Scouting Princeton:
- Princeton is 2-4 this season, all of the losses have come consecutively with the most recent one being a sweep at the hands #3 Penn State on September 14th
- The Tigers have not played a home game this season, all of their games have come from non conference play and tournaments
- Princeton has played UMBC twice and have lost both matchups, the most recent loss was last season by a score of 3-1
- Sophomore setter Sydney Draper is the team leader in assists this season with 207, last year she won the Ivy League Rookie of the Year and averaged 10.26 assists per set, this ranked 2nd in the Ivy League
- Sophomore hitter Kamryn Chaney is the team leader in kills this season with 75 and service aces with eight, last season as just a freshman she was named to Second Team All-Ivy League and averaged 3.86 points per set
- Sophomore libero Sydney Bold is the team leader in digs this year with 79, she also led the team in digs last season with 375 and averaged 4.26 digs per set.
