Men's Soccer Travels to American on Tuesday Evening

  • UMBC enters Tuesday's game with a 3-1-2 record after a 4-0 victory over Saint Joseph's University as the Retrievers look for their second win in a row.

  • American enters Tuesday's game coming off a 2-0 win over Patriot League preseason favorite Loyola Maryland, as the Eagles return to non-conference play in search of a second win.
  • The Eagles' goals came from Junior midfielder Troy Elgersma and senior forward Sam Hershey, both players' first goals of the season. The pair assisted the goals they didn't score in the Loyola game, giving each player a goal and an assist.
  • Sophomore midfielder Reyes Parra also added a pair of assists, which rank him sixth in the Patriot League in assists.
  • Junior goalkeeper Matthew Tibbetts recorded his third clean sheet of the season against Loyola Maryland, earning his second consecutive Patriot League Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week selection in the process.
  • Tibbetts currently leads the Patriot League in its four major goalkeeping statistics: goals against average (1.00), save percentage (.833), shutouts per game (.500) and saves per game (5.00). He leads the League with three shutouts so far this season.
  • Graduate student Cooper Nunn has played every second of American's last 40 games.
