Dawg Bytes
  • UMBC dropped a 2-0 decision against the High Point Panthers on Thursday evening on the road.
  • The Retrievers (2-4) turned in a solid defensive effort but could not overcome High Point's stellar backline. UMBC was outshot 14-1 in the contest.
  • UMBC's lone chance of the contest came with just over 21 minutes left in the opening half as sophomore midfielder Maddie Schepers headed a corner kick off the foot of senior Alyssa Clearfield toward the far post. However, High Point keeper Aubrey Mckessy was up for the task on the attempt from the top of the box.
  •  Freshman midfielder Kristiana Kolega received America East Rookie of the Week honors after she tallied her first career point at Howard. Kolega assisted on Abby Joseph's goal in the 41st minute.
  • UMBC distributed four assists against Howard, good for second most in the America East this season.
  • Payton Schenning, Natasha Munro, Cheyenne Payne, and Kolega all recorded their first assists of the season against the Bison.

 About the Lancers
  • Longwood is off to a slow start but do have a 3-0 victory against Hampton earlier this season.

  • Longwood is scoring just 0.78 goals per game and average 9.9 shots per match.
  • Coryn Silberstein leads the squad with two goals.
  • Sara Curtis (.667 save percentage) is yielding 1.86 goals per game and has started eight contests.
