Smithfield, R.I. -- The UMBC Softball team rallied, but three late runs by Bryant gave the hosts a 7-4 victory in the regular season finale.
Jerzie Nutile hit a two run homer to put UMBC up 2-0 in the second, but Bryant responded with four unearned runs in the bottom of the inning thanks to a pair of Retriever errors.
Ashley Della Guardia had an RBI single in the fourth, and
Amaya Carroll added a sacrifice fly in the fourth to tie it. Bryant used a pair of bunts and a homer to put up three in the fifth to re-take the lead, and UMBC could not get any closer.
Carroll and Nutile had two hit games for UMBC, while
Lyndsey Evix,
Haley Luginbill,
Emily Riggs and
Erin Behel also had hits.
Nutile pitched a scoreless final 1.1 innings of relief.
The Retrievers will be the No.4 seed and play UMass Lowell in the first round of the America East Tournament at Maine beginning on Wednesday.
