Lundy's Big Day Not Enough as Softball Drops Heartbreaker at UAlbany

Box Score Albany, NY -- Amya Lundy went 3-for-3 with a homer and two RBI, but host UAlbany used a two-out tie-breaking single in the bottom of the sixth to get past the UMBC Softball team, 3-2, on Saturday.

UAlbany jumped ahead 2-0 in the first, but UMBC responded with one run on a two-out RBI double from Lundy in the fourth, and a solo shot from Lundy to tie it up in the sixth.

Ashley Della Guardia had a walk and the other hit for the Retrievers, while Kya Matter struck out seven in defeat. Lyndsey Evix drew a walk as well and Amaya Carroll scored a run after reaching on an error.

The two teams will play a noon doubleheader tomorrow.
