Women's Lacrosse Seeking America East Regular Season Championship on Saturday Against Binghamton

 ABOUT THE RETRIEVERS
  • A win on Saturday would give the Retrievers just their second regular-season championship as members of the America East Conference. UMBC first accomplished the feat in 2006 and hosted the Conference Championships at UMBC Stadium.
  • Junior attacker Grace Bruce leads the Dawgs with 45 goals and ranks third in the league and 27th nationally with 3.46 goals per game. Bruce is also seventh in points per game (3.69). Bruce has eight hat-tricks on the season to lead the Retrievers. She has scored four or more goals seven times this season.
  • Junior attacker Kolby Weedon ripped her 100th career goal in UMBC's victory against UAlbany. Weedon is ninth in the America East with 3.38 points per game and ranks 11th on the circuit with 2.46 goals per game.
  • Junior midfielder Katana Nelson has moved up to seventh in the conference with 2.83 goals per game after her four-goal outburst against UAlbany. She has five hat-tricks on the season.
  • Senior attacker Mary Ellis is third on the circuit and 31st in the NCAA with 2.00 assists per game. Ellis has at least one assist in 12 of 13 contests and leads the squad with 26 helpers this season. Her 26 assists this season are the fourth highest in program history, and she is just two shy of tying Heather Kormanik ('98) for third.
  • Junior attacker Lauryn Warfield leads the America East with 5.77 draw controls per game and is 30th in the NCAA.
  • Senior defender Kennedy Evans is tied for the UMBC's all-time mark with 71 caused turnovers.
  • Sophomore defender Emily Renehan was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, January 8, after she caused four turnovers and picked up three ground balls versus UAlbany.
  • Senior goalie Isabella Fontana leads the league in goals against average (9.64) and is second in saves percentage (.441). For the second time in her career, she was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week this past Monday. Fontana is 19th in the country in goals against average.
  • The Retrievers are fourth in the country with a .644 draw control percentage.
  • Seven seniors will be honored before Saturday's contest
 LAST TIME OUT
  • Weedon scored a game-high four goals on Saturday as the Retrievers stayed atop the America East with an 11-7 win over host Vermont.
  •  It was the Retriever's first ever four-game America East winning streak.
  •  Isabella Fontana made 14 saves, including six pivotal stops in the second quarter, to earn the win in the cage.

ABOUT THE BEARCATS
  • Binghamton has won four straight contests and is tied with UMBC and UAlbany in the loss column (America East Standings).
  • The Bearcats disposed of New Hampshire, 20-8, last weekend on their home turf. Olivia Muscolino scored six goals and added two assists to lead the attack. Madison Murphy and Emma Blloshmi added four goals each.
  • Muscolino is fifth in the league with 2.86 goals per game and is sixth in points (3.71 per game).
  • Madison Murphy is 11th on the circuit with 3.14 goals per game.
  • Sofia Salgado is third in the league with a 10.84 goals-against average and saves percentage (.414).
INSIDE THE SERIES
  • UMBC has won 16-of-20 meetings against the Bearcats.
  • Binghamton has won two straight contests, including an 18-13 triumph last season in Vestal, N.Y. Weedon scored five goals to lead the Dawgs.
  • The Retrievers are 9-1 all-time at UMBC Stadium.
