BALTIMORE -- Freshman
Haley Luginbill hit her first career homer, but the UMBC Softball team dropped a 4-3 decision to visiting UMass Lowell on Sunday.
Luginbill came in to pinch hit with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, and promptly blasted a two-run shot over the wall in left to halve the deficit.
In the seventh,
Kya Matter singled to lead off the inning and her pinch runner,
Jaedyn McKeon, would eventually score on an RBI fielder's choice by
Amaya Carroll, but the game would end when a blast to dead center was caught at the wall
Squaires slapped three hits, Matter had a pair, while
Ashley Della Guardia also singled.
The Retrievers travel to Maryland on Wednesday
