The UMBC Softball team returns home from a seven game road trip to host America East rival UMass Lowell this weekend.
The two will play a noon doubleheader on Saturday, followed by another noon contest on Sunday. Sunday will be UMBC's annual Strikeout Cancer Game.
Last time out, UMBC dropped an 8-0 decision to host Towson in five innings on Wednesday afternoon.
The Tigers broke open a tight game with a six-run third inning, and then added a single run in both the fourth and fifth.
Ella Squaires went 2-for-2 for the Retrievers, while

Amya Lundy,
Meghan Shirey and
Isabella DiGiandomenico each added hits. DiGiandomenico doubled in the fifth inning for her first career hit.
UMass Lowell senior
Cayla Tulley (Corona, Calif.) grabbed an RBI single and a walk, but the River Hawks (6-19, AE 1-4) dropped its home-opening doubleheader against UAlbany (18-7, AE 7-1) on Wednesday afternoon.
UML fell, 9-1, in five innings in game one before dropping game two, 8-0.
Senior Elizabeth Frederick (Sunapee, N.H.), junior Emily Tow (North Kingstown, R.I) and graduate student Brenna Davenport (Merrimack, N.H.) all added a hit to the stat sheet, while Tow contributed a run on the afternoon.
