Last Meet Recap, Dalton Ebanks Invitational
Coming off another performer of the week honor in only his sophomore year,
Iosif Papa led the men's track & field last weekend at George Mason. They took the trip south on I-95, just outside the nation's capital in Fairfax, VA, for a two-day meet at Mason Stadium that saw more personal bests and consistent performances. The first day of action at Dalton Ebanks had only one personal best from senior
Jayo Adegboyo in the 200-meter event. Adegboyo ran his best time since his last time at Mason Stadium with a time of 22.27, placing ninth overall last weekend and top twenty within the America East.
Day two action certainly picked up in both the field & track for the men's squad as top finishes and personal records highlighted the afternoon into the evening. Second-year athletes
Aiden Walker (51.25m) and
Iosif Papa (58.88m) finished fifth and first overall, respectively, in the men's discus throw. Walker improved his record by almost two meters, while Papa destroyed his previous personal record by nearly four meters. First-year student Scott Gersten built on his previous personal best by over a meter (53.36m) in the men's javelin to move up to ninth in the conference for the event. Sophomore
Gabriel Koletsi came away second overall with a throw of 66.19 meters.
Freshmen
Sofiane Compaorg and
Aidan Lundberg each had collegiate debuts in the 1500-meter run, each coming in shortly after the four-minute mark. Sophomore
Thomas Foulkes earned a new personal record in his only event of the weekend, coming in at the four-minute mark for 4:00.47s and 24th overall. Classmate
Alex Xavier made his collegiate debut in the 10k to conclude another meet for the Retrievers as stadium lights turned on at Dalton Ebanks.
