BOSTON -- For the fourth time this season, UMBC Volleyball's
Aysia Miller has been named the America East Defensive Specialist of the Week, the Conference announced on Tuesday morning.
Miller averaged 5.0 digs per set, including 28 digs in a 3-2 victory against Bryant to clinch a playoff spot and added 12 more in a 3-0 loss to Binghamton.
The Retrievers travel to New Hampshire on Sunday at 1 p.m. to wrap-up the regular season. A UMBC win, paired with a Binghamton loss at NJIT, would give the Retrievers the regular season title, the number one seed in the tournament and the right to host. A Binghamton win at NJIT on Sunday means that UMBC and UNH would faceoff in the America East semifinal next weekend, with the winner of Sunday's match being the No.2 seed.
Last time out,
Mia Bilusic had 22 kills and a career-best 26 digs to help rally the UMBC Volleyball team to a five set victory over visiting Bryant (24-26, 25-12, 24-26, 26-24, 16-14) on Senior Day at The Peake on Sunday.
Hannah Dobbs had 22 kills (.327 hitting) and a career-high 15 digs, while
Helen Frankovich had 11 kills and four blocks in the victory.
Both middles were again sensational, as
Abby Erickson had five kills (one error) and a team-best seven blocks, while
Mila Ilieva had seven kills (two errors), five blocks and a career-high eight digs.
The setters were solid as
Serin Maden had 37 assists, two assists and two aces, and
Izzy Ostvig had 23 assists, five kills (.444 hitting), five blocks and two digs.
