Women's Soccer Drops Heartbreaker Against Binghamton on Thursday Night

Binghamton Scores Three Goals In Final 5:21 To Edge Retrievers, 4-3

BALTIMORE - The UMBC women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 decision against the Binghamton Bearcats at Retriever Soccer Park on Thursday evening.

UMBC (5-6-1, 1-1-1 America East)) led early, 3-0, as they overwhelmed the visitors over the first twenty minutes of the contest. However, Binghamton scored four unanswered goals, including three over the final 5:21 of the game to shock the Retrievers.

Graduate student forward Natasha Munro scored a gorgeous goal in the 14th minute as she scored from the right side of the box after receiving a feed from midfielder Misa Kasparcova.

Senior forward Izzy Binko followed less than four minutes later as she made a long run, eluded a defender, and ripped a 20-yard laser into the upper right corner.

Graduate student forward Meghan McKye received a throw-in from senior defender Annie Grove and beat Binghamton keeper Rebecca Kessler in the 21st minute.

Binghamton (4-5-2, 1-2-0 America East)  scored a goal in the 32nd minute to trim the deficit to 3-1 at halftime.

Jahkaya Davis, who scored the first goal for the Bearcats, brought the visitors within 3-2 in the 85th minute off a feed from Hannah Mimas.

The Bearcats then evened the contest less than two minutes later on an own goal as a UMBC defender inadvertently deflected a loose ball into the net following a corner kick.

Binghamton finished off a miraculous comeback win as Lauren Clark scored with just 24 ticks left after taking a feed from Allison Falvo.

The visitors outshot the Retrievers by a 23-16 margin and took nine of the 11 corner kicks in the contest.

UMBC travels to Vermont on Sunday afternoon.
